LISFF9th Edition

Film Talent Academy

Linz ISFF · 5th Edition

2026–27

Launched in 2022, the Film Talent Academy of the Linz International Short Film Festival (Linz ISFF) has been dedicated to nurturing emerging filmmakers and providing them with the resources, mentorship, and exposure necessary to succeed in the film industry. In 2025, the academy expanded with the introduction of the First Feature LAB, a new initiative for filmmakers working on their debut feature films. This expansion further strengthens the academy’s commitment to supporting talents at various stages of their careers.

The Talent Academy offers three key development programs: the Short Film LAB, First Feature LAB and Producers in Residence along with tailored masterclasses and workshops designed to equip filmmakers with professional guidance and international visibility. Participants in both labs will benefit from a unique 4-day residency at the Festival de Cannes, providing access to an invaluable networking environment and the opportunity to attend exclusive panels, events and masterclasses.

Key Features

Short Film LAB & First Feature LAB
Tailored development programs for short films and debut feature films, with personalized mentorship and industry insights.Following a series of online sessions with international mentors, the selected filmmakers will come together in Linz during the festival. During their residency in Linz, the talents will pitch their projects to juries and invited producers and take part in networking sessions with our Producers in Residence—creating space for new connections, international exchange, and future collaborations. The jury will select the projects that will advance to the next stage of the programme. At the Linz ISFF Closing Ceremony, we will announce the talents who will continue their journey into Phase 2 of the LAB. And the journey continues. Phase 2 will bring further online development sessions with mentors, another residency in Cannes, and the opportunity to pitch the developed projects at the Cannes Film Festival, in collaboration with SFC Rendez-vous Industry, Festival de Cannes 2027.
