Once again this year, the International Short Film Festival is bringing filmmakers and film enthusiasts from all over the world to Linz. It has now become an integral part of Linz’s cultural landscape and demonstrates just how diverse film can be in the city. Short films, in particular, create space for new perspectives, tell stories creatively and showcase bold ideas that often trigger thought in a short space of time and leave a lasting impression. With the Film Talent Academy, the festival also offers an exceptional opportunity. Filmmakers are given the chance to further develop a project, learn from experienced mentors and forge international contacts. Furthermore, participants are given the unique opportunity to present their projects at the Marché du Film as part of the 2027 Cannes Film Festival. The new “Producers in Residence” programme brings young producers from various countries to Linz. This paves the way for new projects and long-term collaborations with filmmakers. The festival is therefore not only a venue for great films, but also for exchange and networking, further strengthening Linz’s reputation as an open and creative cultural city.
