Queer-Feminist Film Award & Talent Grant In cooperation with the Women’s Office of the City of Linz In the presence of City Councillor Eva Schobesberger The Mahsa Jina Amini Award will be presented to the Best Queer-Feminist Film of the festival. The Talent Grant will be awarded to one of three emerging filmmakers who presented their short-film projects in a pitch session in Linz. The selected project will move on to the next phase of the Short Film Lab of the Talent Academy, receiving further support in its development. The award ceremony will be followed by: TALK & OPEN DISCUSSION Feminist Cinema – What Makes a Film Feminist? Talk led by Julia Pühringer, with Eva Schobesberger, Maral Keshavarz, Parisa Ghasemi, and attending filmmakers. What makes a film feminist? Is it enough for a film to be directed by a woman or to address so-called “women’s issues”? Feminist film theory shows that the question goes beyond content to the structures of cinema itself: gazes, narratives and aesthetics that can reproduce—or challenge—patriarchal systems. Together with jury members, experts and attending filmmakers, we will discuss what feminist structures in cinema can look like and which often invisible patriarchal patterns continue to shape film today. The discussion is open to the audience.
